Invisalign & Kids Orthodontist in Manhattan

Hi,

Most kids don’t start orthodontic treatment because they “want braces.”

They start because something feels slightly off – a smile they don’t fully love, teeth that have shifted over time, or a parent noticing their child’s bite developing differently than expected.

In a city like Manhattan, where everything moves fast, orthodontic care often becomes just another rushed appointment in a busy schedule.

But orthodontic treatment is not supposed to feel rushed.

Orthodontics Should Never Be a Fast Process

In many high-volume orthodontic offices, treatment is inefficient, systemized, and handled by rotating providers.

It can feel smooth on the surface – but something important is often lost: consistency and personalized treatment and care. An orthodontic treatment can never be a cookie cutter product.

And in orthodontics, together with the right treatment plan for an individual, consistency along the treatment process is everything.

Because small, precise decisions made over time shape the final result:

  • the angle of a single bracket
  • the timing of a wire adjustment
  • the refinement of Invisalign aligners
  • the way teeth settle into long-term stability

None of these moments feel dramatic on their own. But together, they define everything.

“I personally track every Invisalign case from start to finish – because the outcome is built in the details, not the system.”

– Dr. Helen Choi, Board-Certified Orthodontist, Manhattan NYC

Kids Orthodontics: Why Timing Matters More Than Straight Teeth

Orthodontics for children is not just about alignment.

It is about growth and development of teeth, jaw and face. It’s also about the confidence in children —emotional part plays a bigger role in these days with all these visual social medias (tiktok, instagram etc.)

Because the jaw is still developing, orthodontic treatment at this stage is not only correcting teeth – it is guiding how the face and jaw grow, affecting the bite and face structure as a whole.

Early orthodontic evaluation can help:

  • guide proper jaw development
  • reduce the need for complex and risky dental procedures like surgical exposure of impacted teeth, later
  • prevent or reduce the chance of jaw surgery in the future
  • improve long-term bite stability and overall oral health

This is why we often recommend early assessments at age no later than 7 – even when treatment is not immediately needed.

Because the right timing is the most important factor in early intervention.

A Practice Built on Consistency and Focus

My Manhattan orthodontic practice is designed for patients who value depth of quality care.

We go above and beyond for our patients who are:

  • Busy professionals balancing demanding schedules
  • Parents making thoughtful decisions for their children
  • Young children and teens with busy schedules accommodating after school hours at two different locations

Every case is planned individually.

Not assigned.

Not rotated.

Not rushed.

Because orthodontics is not a template — it is a sequence of precise clinical decisions over time.

Patient Story: Early Orthodontic Treatment (Phase 1)

Case Overview

Patient: Isabella 7 Y.O
Treatment: Early Interceptive Orthodontics (Phase 1)
Concerns: Anterior open bite and significant spacing between front teeth

Initial Presentation

During early dental development, the patient presented with two main challenges:

-Anterior open bite – the upper and lower front teeth did not meet properly when biting

-Severe spacing – noticeable gaps between upper front teeth affecting alignment and future eruption of permanent teeth

At this stage, these issues were not just cosmetic — they had the potential to affect speech, chewing function, and long-term jaw development.

Treatment Approach

A customized early interceptive treatment plan was designed to:

  • guide jaw growth in a more balanced direction
  • gradually close spacing between front teeth
  • correct bite relationship during active development

Because the patient was still growing, we were able to use natural growth to our advantage.

The Transformation (After)

Through a customized, interceptive early treatment plan, we successfully guided the growth of the patient’s smile:

  • Bite Closure: The anterior open bite was completely corrected, allowing the upper and lower teeth to overlap beautifully and function perfectly.
  • Space Closure: The prominent gaps were closed, bringing the front teeth together into an ideal position.
  • Correct Teeth Alignment: The final result showcases a healthy, straight, and structurally sound smile that sets a fantastic foundation for future dental health.

Why Early Interceptive Treatment Matters

Interceptive orthodontics allows us to address problems while the jaw bones are still developing.

Instead of waiting to correct issues later in life, we can prevent the issues when caught earlyguide growth, treatment is simpler, more efficient, and more stable long-term.

In many cases, this reduces the need for more invasive procedures in the future.
